2025/26 Lete Player of the Season: who will take the top spot?
For Atalanta app members only
With the 2025/26 season now all but in the books and the final curtain not set to fall until June 30, the time has come to hit rewind and look back on Atalanta’s campaign through the players who defined it.
Across Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League, 54 chapters shaped the Nerazzurri journey from August to May. From the season opener against Pisa to the final whistle at the Artemio Franchi in Florence, Atalanta once again navigated a campaign packed with challenges, drama, setbacks and memorable achievements.
Starting with the league, after a slow-burning opening to the season, the Nerazzurri found their rhythm and launched a climb that ultimately culminated in a seventh-place finish. Key to that ascent was a run of nine consecutive positive results, highlighted by the home win over Roma, the raid on the Dall’Ara, a hard-fought draw at the Sinigaglia despite playing a man down, victory over Lazio at the Olimpico and a trademark Bergamo comeback against Napoli. Equally important were two standout performances that lived in a category of their own: the draw away to eventual Serie A champions Inter at San Siro and the stunning victory over Milan at the Meazza in May. A finish that, coupled with the outcome of the Coppa Italia, secured Atalanta's ninth European qualification in the last ten years. And with a place in next season's UEFA Conference League, the Nerazzurri will finally complete their European passport by adding the only continental competition still missing from the collection.
Turning to the Coppa Italia, Atalanta's run came to an end only in the semi-finals, with a penalty shootout providing the bitter conclusion to the two-legged tie against Lazio. A journey that had begun at the New Balance Arena with a four-goal showing against Genoa and continued with a convincing 3-0 victory over Juventus, before stopping just one step short of the final.
Finally, the Champions League, where Atalanta improved on the previous season's showing by reaching the Round of 16. Beginning with the League Phase, after an opening setback at the Parc des Princes, some of the most memorable European nights of the campaign followed: from the "vendetta" comeback over Club Brugge at the New Balance Arena to the statement victory away at Olympique Marseille, via the three-goal triumph in Frankfurt in a match made even more special by the long-standing friendship with the Eintracht supporters, and one more famous European night in Bergamo, where reigning world champions Chelsea were sent home empty-handed.
Having finished the League Phase just outside the Top 8 for the second consecutive season, the draw paired the Nerazzurri with Borussia Dortmund in the play-offs. Defeat at Signal Iduna Park was followed by another European night destined to live long in Atalanta folklore: the "total Nerazzurri delirium" sequel, as Bergamo witnessed yet another unforgettable comeback under the lights.
Drawn against German opposition once again in the Round of 16, Atalanta eventually bowed out of Europe's premier club competition after a two-legged showdown with Bayern Munich.
