The Month Ahead: September
A Serie A triple-header before the international break
After an August spent juggling European and domestic duties, September changes tune, with Serie A taking centre stage throughout. Three stops, from Rome to Turin via Bergamo, will take the Nerazzurri through to the international break.
The curtain rises on Saturday 5 September, with the Nerazzurri immediately hitting the road for their first Serie A away trip of the season. First up on the domestic itinerary is the Stadio Olimpico, where Maurizio Sarri’s side will face Roma in the capital at 20:45 CEST.
After the Roman stopover, it will be time to head back home. On Saturday 12 September, again at 20:45 CEST, the New Balance Arena will welcome the Nerazzurri back for the clash with Cagliari, their only home fixture of the month. The meeting with the Rossoblù will also open a lengthy spell away from Bergamo: Atalanta will not play in front of their home crowd again until the weekend of 10 October, when Venezia come to the New Balance Arena.
The final act of September brings another heavyweight assignment on the road. On Sunday 20 September, the Nerazzurri head to Turin, where Juventus await at the Allianz Stadium for a 20:45 CEST kick-off.
Once the trip to Piedmont is in the books, Atalanta will head into the international break, which from this season will stretch across two weeks, before switching the engines back on and turning their attention to October’s fixtures.
