POTM Fever: Scamacca is the Lete MVP of December!
Crowned by the Nerazzurri fans on the official Atalanta app
“POTM Fever”: that was the diagnosis for December’s contest, with the outcome hanging on a knife-edge until the very last vote. In the dying moments, Gianluca Scamacca edged ahead, sending the Player of the Month thermometer soaring and making his debut in the Lete roll of honour.
Hot on his heels, Charles De Ketelaere fell just short, edging out in second place. Rounding out the podium, the ever-powerful “Tank” Sead Kolašinac.
“A Fistful of votes”: three, to be exact. That’s all it took for Gianluca Scamacca to be crowned Atalanta’s Player of the Month for December.
Four decisive strikes from the Atalanta striker across league and cup, each one enough to assert dominance in his “OK Corral” on the Atalanta app—a head-to-head showdown with Charles De Ketelaere that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
It all started with the first goal of the month: the penalty converted at Verona to cut the deficit on enemy turf. The second act was of a completely different magnitude and emotional intensity: the “Bergamo Night”, as Scamacca dubbed it, against Chelsea. A European night destined for the history books: his thunderous header, a display of pure aerial dominance, leveled the score and sparked the comeback.
And for the grand finale, staying in cinematic mode but swapping spaghetti westerns for ’70s dance drama, comes Saturday Night Fever, the inspiration for our special. This was the Christmas Match brace against Cagliari, where Scamacca, despite running a 38-degree fever, was burning with a different kind of heat: the one he knows best—goal fever.
A predatory brace that earned him MVP honors, capping a golden December for Atalanta’s number 9. Stats and performances like these let Gianluca Scamacca ride off into the sunset, Player of the Month in hand.
Still following the Dollars Trilogy motif, “For a Few Votes More” is the tagline that closes the credits of the December “What If” featuring Charles De Ketelaere: a neck-and-neck sprint that saw the “blond” finish second in the Player of the Month race, separated from the top spot by the slimmest of margins.
Co-star alongside Gianluca Scamacca in the European night against Chelsea—a match in which he was voted MVP thanks to the assist that set the comeback in motion and, most importantly, the knockout blow that completed Atalanta’s turnaround against the Blues—the Belgian was one of the key men in that “Italian Job” staged in Bergamo. The reigning champion, however, had to halt just short of a repeat, beaten only at the very last second in a race decided by the final vote.
Mutatis mutandis, the battle for third place was another showdown within a showdown: December’s bronze went to a head-to-head between Marco Carnesecchi and Sead Kolašinac. Once again, “by a handful of votes”, the Bosnian tank came out on top, leaving the Riminese keeper just shy of a fourth consecutive podium finish.
Power, grit, and defensive leadership are the trademarks of Atalanta’s working-class hero, who, after steadily regaining his rhythm on the pitch in November, returned in December with a bang, announcing his comeback in unmistakable fashion.
Congratulations to Gianluca on his first Lete Player of the Month title, the last one of 2025! Atalanta fans, the race for the first POTM of the 2026 calendar year is already on...
