Scamacca at the double, but Cagliari come out on top
3-2 win for the Sardinians
The 2025/26 Serie A Enilive Matchday 34 saw Cagliari edge a hard-fought contest 3-2 at the Unipol Domus Arena. Striking twice for the Nerazzurri, Scamacca completed a brace in the first half.
Cagliari broke the deadlock early on, with Mendy heading in the opener in the first minute. He doubled the hosts' lead eight minutes later, capitalising on a melee after Carnesecchi had denied Deiola. Djimsiti gave it a try in the 22nd minute, but his header went over the crossbar. In the 29th, Kolašinac came up with a crucial sliding challenge, getting there first to deny Deiola. The Nerazzurri pulled one back through Scamacca, who curled a precise right-footed effort beyond Caprile and into the far corner to make it 2-1. Atalanta's striker was not done yet, as he levelled the scoring five minutes later, turning Scalvini's delivery home first time, completing his brace and making it 2–2.
Cagliari restored their lead right after the resumption with Borrelli. The Nerazzurri pushed for an equaliser, but the hosts held firm at the back. In the 78th minute, Carnesecchi did well to win a one-on-one with Belotti through on goal. In the 80th minute, Atalanta went close to equalising as Pašalić’s acrobatic effort flashed just wide of the post. On 82 minutes, another huge chance fell to the Nerazzurri, but Caprile made a crucial save to deny Krstović from close range. In the 89th, Scamacca met it well with a header, but Caprile tipped it behind for a corner. A frantic finale saw the Nerazzurri push relentlessly for an equaliser, with the last chance falling to Raspadori in the 97th minute, but Caprile denied him. It finished 3-2 to Cagliari.
