Atalanta U23s 1-2 Campobasso

Atalanta U23s suffered a setback as Campobasso ran out 2-1 winners at the Stadio Comunale in Caravaggio.

The game got off to a lively start, with Anelli called into action as early as the 4th minute to keep out an opposition effort. The Nerazzurri goalkeeper was on hand again in the 20th minute, denying a close-range attempt from inside the box. It was Atalanta U23s, however, who broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute: Diao did well to carve out some space following a throw-in before picking out De Nipoti, who turned the ball home. The Nerazzurri almost doubled their advantage in the 35th minute, when Navarro fired narrowly wide following a well-worked team move. Just a minute later, Bifulco drew Campobasso level with an unstoppable effort that flew into the top corner.

Five minutes after the restart, Steffanoni dispossessed an opposition defender and raced through on goal, only to be hauled back by his shirt, with the referee showing a yellow card. Campobasso then completed the turnaround in the 58th minute, as Coccia found the back of the net with a long-range strike. The Nerazzurri went in search of a response and came within inches of restoring parity in the 77th minute, when De Nipoti rattled the crossbar. Deep into stoppage time, Diao tried his luck from inside the box, but the scoreline remained unchanged.
