Atalanta v Frosinone: pre-match notes
Stories and trivia ahead of our home clash with the Ciociari
A Sunday at home, in the middle of a week spent on the road. Fresh from their European trip to Amsterdam and with Florence already next on the horizon, Atalanta will make a stop at the New Balance Arena on 25 October to switch their focus back to Serie A, with Bergamo providing the one constant in a week moving between European and domestic action. At 15:00 CET, the Nerazzurri will host Frosinone on Matchday 8, returning to their home crowd for the only home fixture of an otherwise all-away week.
The meeting with the Ciociari will therefore fill the Bergamo slot in a three-stop week. Ahead of kick-off, let’s delve into the stories, stats and head-to-head record behind Atalanta v Frosinone.
Crescendo in Bergamo
Four meetings in Bergamo and an unbeaten record Atalanta have held since Frosinone’s first visit. It all began with a 0-0 draw on 5 September 2010, the only meeting between the sides in Serie B, before three Serie A encounters all went the Nerazzurri’s way.
First came a 2-0 win in 2015, followed by a 4-0 victory in 2018 and, most recently, a 5-0 triumph in 2024: three wins in a row, each accompanied by a clean sheet, for an aggregate score of 11-0.

Defenders with a licence to score
There has been one constant on the scoresheet in all three Serie A meetings between Atalanta and Frosinone in Bergamo: a goal from a Nerazzurri defender. Guglielmo Stendardo broke the deadlock in the 2-0 win in January 2016, while Hans Hateboer struck the second of Atalanta’s four goals in August 2018. In the most recent meeting, the 5-0 win on 15 January 2024, the contribution from the back doubled and came entirely from the flanks, with Davide Zappacosta and Emil Holm rounding off the scoring late on.
That same game also produced a blistering start, with three goals inside the opening 14 minutes putting Atalanta 3-0 up. The last time the Nerazzurri had scored at least three goals in the opening quarter of an hour of a Serie A match was on 4 April 2019 against Bologna, when they went one better with four.
An eight-game history
Atalanta and Frosinone share a relatively recent history, having met just eight times in competitive action, fewer than against any other team in the current 2026/27 Serie A line-up. The fixture first entered the Nerazzurri record books in September 2010, with an inaugural meeting in Serie B, before the two sides went on to cross paths exclusively in the top flight.
Those eight games have produced five Atalanta wins, two draws and one Frosinone victory, making this the least-played fixture for the Nerazzurri among this season’s Serie A opponents.
