Last-minute Hien decides it at the Ferraris

Hien struck in the dying moments to snatch victory at Genoa. On matchday 16 of the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive, the Nerazzurri secured a 1-0 win at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium, with the Swedish defender’s 94th-minute goal proving decisive.

The Nerazzurri got off to a flying start, reducing the home side to ten men after three minutes: winning the ball on the halfway line, Maldini charged towards Leali, who was forced to foul him outside the box. Being a clear scoring chance, the Genoa keeper was waved a straight red card. The Nerazzurri forged ahead, threatening with Scamacca (whose free-kick sailed over the bar). De Ketelaere (blocked by Sommariva) and Éderson (finishing high over the bar). On 17 minutes was well alert and thwarted Vasquez's header. In the 33rd, Musah burst forward, stole possession in midfield and tried his luck at goal, but the shot sailed over the bar. The hosts retorted with Vitinha, smothered by Carnesecchi at the second attempt. The final chance of the first half came in stoppage time, with Kolašinac bursting into the box and Vasquez producing a crucial clearance, getting in ahead of De Ketelaere from point-blank range.

An early scare at the start of the second half from the hosts, as Vitinha clipped the outside of the post in the 46th following a driving run down the right flank from Norton-Cuffy. The Neerazzurri gave tit for tat with Éderson (a turning effort straight at the keeper) and Maldini (over the bar). In the 71st De Ketelaere found space in the box, but his left-footed effort drifted just wide. Genoa went close in the 77th minute when Colombo met a cross with a downward header, but Carnesecchi was alert and pushed it out for a corner. Zalewski had a go in the 87th, but Sommariva tipped it over the bar for a corner. At the very last gasp, Hien rose above everyone from another corner and powered a header past the keeper, deciding the match at the 94th minute at the Ferraris.
