Women's sides: U17s kick off their season

The women’s teams have also officially kicked off the season and, as in previous years, the U17s were the first to begin their pre-season preparations. The team met up this afternoon for their first training session at the Brembate Municipal Sports Centre, which will once again host all the women’s teams for both training sessions and matches this season.

As mentioned, the U17s were the first team to begin pre-season training, with Michele Frigerio once again in charge. The squad comprises 27 players, mainly from two age groups: those born in 2010 and, predominantly, those born in 2011, as well as one player born in 2012. From 23 to 26 August, pre-season preparations will continue in Brentonico, Trentino-Alto Adige, while the first fixture of the season will be played on 30 August in Scanzorosciate, at the now-traditional “Le Rose del Moscato” tournament.

In the first half of the season, the Nerazzurre will compete in the provincial U14 boys’ league, while in the second half of the season they have already qualified for the regional girls’ competition.

Also present at the training camp was Stefano Cambiaghi, coordinator of the women’s youth programme. This season, the Nerazzurre women’s youth programme comprises 130 players across six teams: U17, U15, U14, U13, U12 and U11. The age groups range from players born in 2010 to the youngest group, made up of players born in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The next team to begin pre-season training will be the U15s on Wednesday 19 August, again at the Brembate sports centre.
