U23s Thump Juventus Next Gen 5-1 in Style
On target Lonardo, Vavassori, Cortinovis and Simonetto
A great performance from Mister Bocchetti’s lads in Biella, where Atalanta dominated in the friendly against Juventus NG with a 5-1 scoreline.
Showing an attacking mindset from the onset, Atalanta U23s drew first blood in the 7th minute with Simonetto, who threaded the first chance of the game with a lef-footed blow, only to be met by the Bianconeri keeper's opposition. Six minutes later, the Nerazzurri took the lead thanks to an own goal from Scaglia, whose misplaced back pass caught his own keeper off guard.
In the 16th minute, Bocchetti's lads came close to doubling their advantage: breaking away on the counter, Cissé found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but couldn't beat him; with Lonardo firing wide with the goal at his mercy on the rebound. he striker made amends shortly before the break, making the most of a Simonetto assist to slot home and make it 2-0.
In the second half, Atalanta U23s sealed the deal. In the 70th minute, they made it 3-0 with a penalty, awarded after Manzoni was fouled in the box and converted with deadly accuracy by Vavassori. Then, in the 83rd minute, a brilliant solo effort from Idele saw him breeze past an opponent, charge into the area, and square it for Cortinovis, who made no mistake in tapping it home for the 4-0. In the dying moments, Simonetto got in on the action, hammering the ball into the net with power and precision to make it a resounding 5-0.
