Primavera, Atalanta 2-0 Milan
Ciapini and Ruiz de Valdivia seal Nerazzurri win
A fine team performance and a goal in each half saw Atalanta’s Primavera side beat Milan on Matchday 6 of the 2026/27 Primavera 1 Championship “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti”. The game at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia ended 2-0 in favour of coach Bosi’s side, with Ciapini and Ruiz de Valdivia on target.
Atalanta made a lively start and came close to taking the lead inside the opening 30 seconds, only for Ciapini’s effort to be cleared off the line by the Milan defence. The breakthrough was only delayed, however, and arrived in the 10th minute: Ciapini intercepted a misplaced clearance, rounded the goalkeeper and slotted into an empty net to put the Nerazzurri ahead. It was the No. 40’s third league goal of the season.
In the 20th minute, Bosi’s side came close to doubling their lead when Bosisio’s header from Colombo’s corner forced Catalano into an excellent save. Leandri then threatened again for Atalanta, firing narrowly wide with his left foot from a promising position after a fine team move. At the other end, Sonzogni was called into action just after the half-hour mark, reacting well to Tartaglia’s long-range left-footed effort. In the 36th minute, a neat combination between Perillo and Colombo created another opportunity, with Ciapini’s first-time finish from the resulting cross drifting wide.
The Nerazzurri picked up where they had left off after the break and quickly extended their advantage. Ciapini broke down the right before Perillo held the ball up inside the box and laid it off to Colombo. Showing great composure, Colombo picked out Ruiz de Valdivia on the edge of the area, and the latter struck a superb first-time right-footed finish past Catalano to make it 2-0.
Ciapini nearly added a third in the 52nd minute, sending a diagonal effort narrowly wide. Milan tried to get back into the game just after the hour mark, but Atalanta’s defence stood firm, with Sonzogni and then Ramaj keeping the visitors at bay. The Nerazzurri goalkeeper was called upon again shortly afterwards, making another good save from Anastasio’s effort.
In the 72nd minute, Sonzogni produced a superb triple save, helped by the post, to preserve Atalanta’s clean sheet. Three minutes later, Ruiz de Valdivia threatened at the other end, only for Catalano to deny him, before Colombo saw his subsequent effort blocked by the Milan defence. Atalanta came close to a third once more through the Fugazzola-Ciapini combination, but Catalano turned the effort behind for a corner.
The final whistle confirmed a 2-0 win for Atalanta in Zingonia, taking the Nerazzurri to six points in the standings.
