Phase 1 of the excavations completed, big screen to be installed
Update on the refurbishment of the Gewiss Stadium
With neither breaks nor hiccups, the refurbishment of the Gewiss Stadium, namely the edification of the new Curva Sud Morosini, forges ahead as scheduled.
Even more so, Cava Ghisalba has completed phase one of the works under its remit ahead of time: the firm located in Ghisalba, and administered by Maurizio Pisana as its sole manager, concluded the excavations of the foundation pits for the new Curva Sud Morosini 10 days earlier than initially agreed. With 1,000 cubic metres of debris extracted every day and with 80 odd journeys made by its trucks daily, Cava Ghisalba has extracted and transported over 39,000 cubic metres of debris.
More thoroughly, these achievements stem from both pinpoint programming and Cava Ghisalba's capacity in adapting its schedule to the needs.
Especially considering the magnitude and the complexity of the opus to be implemented for the complete edification of the new Curva Sud Morosini (together with the Away Fan Zone) and the excavation and construction of the adjacent underground parking.
Cava Ghisalba has completed the raw excavations for the soon-to-be-placed foundations of the new Curva Sud Morosini - where edification works are set to begin between October and December.
Extending itself deep underground, the dugout reaches the ground zero of the future hypogeal parking area, whose preparations are set for early 2024.
The renovation of the Gewiss Stadium goes hand in hand with all those functional works that will enable Atalanta to keep playing all the upcoming commitments (namely, as for the current season, Serie A, Coppa Italia and the Europa League) in Bergamo: from the Away Fan Zone to the overhaul of the areas located at the ground level of the main central stand (currently affected by the dismantling of the central heating machinery, to be moved below the Curva Sud Morosini upon its completion) and the installation of the first of the two jumbotrons that will equip the Gewiss Stadium once all renovations are over.
The Curva Nord Pisani has been prepared for the fitting of the big screen, to be temporarily attached to the cover of the stand. With a width of 14 meters and a height of 5, the maxi screen will be fully operational for the first home game of the season, namely the clash against Monza scheduled for Saturday, September 2, at 20:45 CEST.
In short, more building areas within a bigger all-encompassing project set to last until summer 2024, when, upon completion of all scheduled works, all veils will be lifted when Atalanta and all its fans will be gifted a face-lifted Gewiss Stadium and a new cutting-edge home.
