November 25: On the Field Against Gender-Based Violence and Discrimination
Atalanta’s initiatives for this important occasion
Atalanta has always shown strong commitment to social issues, a defining element of the Club’s identity: from supporting educational projects aimed at the youth academy— and beyond— to collaborating with local community organisations.
Throughout the entire sporting season, the boys and girls of the youth sector are engaged in dedicated activities addressing a range of social themes. These initiatives form part of the DEA Program, the socio-educational project strongly supported by the Club and focused on inclusion and the prevention of discrimination.
To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women— observed every year on 25 November since 1999, when the United Nations officially recognised the occasion dedicated to awareness-raising, mobilisation, and the promotion of policies safeguarding women’s rights— the topic was further explored through the “Outraged: Sexism” session, which involved two teams from Atalanta’s youth academy.
The event was introduced by Atalanta’s psycho-educational staff, composed of Luca Goi and Francesca Pasciuti, followed by on-field activities and a concluding discussion session.
A total of 49 boys and girls from Atalanta’s U13 Boys and U14 Girls categories participated in the on-field activities, guided by their respective coaching staff. Through a mixed-team training session, the event encouraged collaboration among participants and reflection on the issues of discrimination and gender-based violence, demonstrating how sport can play a significant role in breaking down barriers and promoting mutual respect.
