Mediterranean Games: Perillo fires Italy into the semi-finals
Perillo’s goal against Kosovo proved decisive, with Olivieri and Sonzogni also featuring
A 96th-minute goal from Diego Perillo secured Italy’s place in the semi-finals of the 20th Mediterranean Games. The Atalanta forward, who featured alongside fellow Nerazzurri Francesco Olivieri and Mattia Sonzogni, scored the third and decisive goal in the final group-stage match against Kosovo at the Iacovone Stadium in Taranto.
Italy needed a 3-0 victory to overtake Albania (beaten 2-0 by Algeria) on goal difference and claim second place in the group, earning a spot in the last four.
The Azzurrini will now face Tunisia in the semi-final on Friday at 10:30 CEST.
