Last stop before the international break. On Sunday 20 September, Atalanta head to Turin for their final fixture of the month before club football makes way for the national teams. At 18:00 CEST, the Nerazzurri will take on Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on Matchday 5 of the 2026/27 Serie A Enilive season, bringing September’s action to a close before Atalanta return to the club football schedule in mid-October.
Before the curtain comes down on September, however, there is still one more game to play and plenty to tell. Ahead of kick-off, let’s delve into the stories, stats and head-to-head record behind Juventus v Atalanta.
A Sunday to make 150
Sunday’s Juventus v Atalanta will mark the 150th official meeting between the two sides. A milestone that will see the Bianconeri, at least for the time being, draw level with Milan as the opponent Atalanta have faced most often in their history.
The 149 previous meetings have been split almost perfectly between Turin and Bergamo: 74 at Juventus’ home ground and 73 on Nerazzurri soil. Completing the picture are just two matches played at neutral venues, both Coppa Italia finals: in Reggio Emilia in 2021 and Rome in 2024.
Sunday will therefore bring the 75th meeting at Juventus’ home ground, just under a year on from the Nerazzurri’s last visit to Turin.

A two-track streak in Turin
For more than six years, Atalanta’s league trips to Juventus have shared two constants: a positive result and at least one Nerazzurri goal. That has been the case in each of the last seven visits, starting with the 1-1 draw in May 2019: two wins and five draws, along with 14 goals scored, for an exact average of two per game.
The games have taken different turns since then, but the streak has remained intact. After the 2-2 draw in July 2020, Atalanta claimed a 1-0 win in November 2021, their first league victory away to Juventus in over 30 years. A 3-3 draw followed in January 2023 and a 2-2 in March 2024, before the 4-0 win on 9 March 2025, Atalanta’s biggest-ever victory away to Juventus. The most recent meeting, on 27 September last year, ended 1-1.
The Turin double of 1989
The year 1989 holds a particular place in the history of Juventus v Atalanta, with two Sundays in Turin that went down in the Nerazzurri record books. Over the course of that calendar year, Atalanta visited Juventus twice in the league, just 259 days apart.
The first meeting, on Matchday 14 of the 1988/89 Serie A season, took place on 22 January. The game remained deadlocked until the 88th minute, when Brazilian forward Evair struck the goal that sealed a 1-0 win for Atalanta.
On 8 October, on Matchday 8 of the 1989/90 Serie A season, the Nerazzurri returned to Turin. This time it was Argentina’s Claudio Caniggia who decided the contest, scoring in the 74th minute to secure another 1-0 Atalanta victory.
