Introducing Marco Sportiello: the press conference

The official presentation of Marco Sportiello took place in the conference room of the Centro Bortolotti. Welcoming back the goalkeeper, a product of the Nerazzurri Youth Academy with 137 appearances already under his belt with the Atalanta colours, was CEO Luca Percassi: "We're very happy to welcome Marco back, a true 'son of Zingonia' who's made his homecoming. We're grateful to him because, despite having opportunities, he chose to return here and it fills us with pride. Marco will be a valuable asset not only for what he brings on the pitch, but also for the example he'll set in the dressing room, upholding the very same values that define us: professionalism and a spotless working ethos".

And these were Marco’s thoughts after returning to the club following two seasons away: “I found the same Atalanta I had left, a healthy, humble environment. That’s one of the key factors that helped me achieve what I have over the past few years. I’m truly happy to be back in this club and to reconnect with some of the people I’ve worked with before. That’s why I want to thank Atalanta for this opportunity. My fellow goalkeepers, Carnesecchi and Rossi, are two guys I’ve known for a long time, both having come through the Nerazzurri Academy like me, and I’m looking forward to working together again. I know what my role is. I’m at the coach’s disposal, and I’ll work hard every day, also working closely with coach Savorani - someone all the top goalkeepers he’s trained have spoken very highly of - to be ready whenever I’m called upon because I know that every match can be decisive.”
