European champions emerge victorious at Parc des Princes

PSG win on UCL matchday 1

Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain picked up all three points in the opening match of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League League Phase, with the French side running out 4-0 winners at the Parc des Princes.

The hosts got off to a strong start, breaking the deadlock three minutes into the game when Marquinhos turned in Fabian Ruiz's assist. Carnesecchi was tested again later on when he denied Nuno Mendes from close range after eight minutes, and then turned Hakimi's angled drive wide after ten minutes. Atalanta's response came in the 18th minute, with Kossounou shooting over the bar, followed by a series of attacking moves led by De Ketelaere. Kvaratskhelia doubled PSG's lead in the 39th minute with a great strike, and the hosts had the chance to add another goal in the 44th minute when the referee awarded them a penalty following a VAR call. However, Carnesecchi came to the rescue and thwarted Barcola's penalty with a timely save.

The second half saw Nuno Mendes make it 3-0 in the 51st minute with a clear-cut finish. On 63 minutes the Nerazzurri tried to get back into the game with Krstović, whose left-footer was parried by the PSG goalkeeper. In the dying minutes of the match, Ramos added a fourth.
