Eleven goals in second pre-season game in Clusone
As Atalanta win 11-0 against Rappresentativa Val Seriana
Atalanta’s second preseason friendly against Rappresentativa Val Seriana culminated in the 11-0 walkover of the Black-and-blues after 85 minutes (45 minutes for the first half and 40 minutes for the second half). The match was graced by the presence of Atalanta’s executives, with the President Antonio Percassi, CEO Luca Percassi, the Head of Sport Lee Congerton and the Sporting Director Tony D’Amico attending in full force.
With the stand fully sold-out today as well, Atalanta took the lead in the 4th minute as de Roon found Zappacosta with a through pass, who slotted the ball in to break the deadlock. Atalanta doubled the lead on 12 minutes courtesy of Højlund, who found his space and loosened a banger under the roof of the goal from a tight angle. In the 15th minute, Latte Lath’s shot smacked the inner crossbar. Atalanta scored their third on 20 minutes: after Højlund and Boga combined in true futsal fashion, the French #10 found the goal with an angled strike. After two minutes, Højlund donned again the wingman cape and set Latte Lath off, with Atalanta’s #24 making it 4-0 after a mano-a-mano. 32 minutes into the game Bakker hit the second crossbar of the evening.
With an entirely new line-up hitting the pitch for the second half, Lookman dribbled his way to the 5th in the 13th minute. Shortly after, it was showtime for (Super)Mario Pašalić, living up to his nickname with a hat-trick in less than 10 minutes: on 18 minutes with a volley after his move to the heart of the box, in the 22nd minute with a chip shot and in the 27th with a clinical shot to turn Muriel’s assist into another goal. The 9-0 was black-and-blue and Oranje all over: Koopmeiners slotted his left-footed shot in the lower corner after a Lookman through ball. In the 35th minute, Lookman made it 10-0, slotting in his second brace in a row and closing a great back-and-forth with Muriel with a lob into the roof of the goal. Before the final whistle, it was Mæhle's turn to feature the scoresheet, hammering a back-heel from Kolašinac behind the opposing keeper.
Tomorrow, Friday the 21st of July, training will resume at the "Città di Clusone" Sporting Venue with a double session (with the afternoon drill scheduled for 17:00 CEST and open to the general public).
