4-0 to Genoa and through to the Coppa Italia quarterfinals

Djimsiti, de Roon, Pašalić and Ahanor punch the ticket to the last-8 stage

Djimsiti, de Roon, Pašalić, and Ahanor fire Atalanta past Genoa 4–0 in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Round of 16, sealing their spot in the quarterfinals.

The Nerazzurri knocked first in the 18th minute, when Pašalić nodded the ball home, but saw his effort denied by the crossbar. But the breakthrough wasn't long in coming: just a minute later, Djimsiti broke the deadlock with a textbook downward header on a pinpoint cross from Zalewski on the left. The Nerazzurri almost doubled their lead in the 29th minute with Maldini, but once again the woodwork had its say - coming between Atalanta and the goal for the second time - as his effort crashed on the inner post before ricocheting out of harm's way. And it was the number 70 who threatened again on 33 minutes: sent through by de Roon, Maldini went for a low finish, with the ball ultimately flashing just wide of the far post. The visitors were reduced to ten men in the 36th minute, as Fini saw red for bringing down Bellanova, who was clean through on goal.

Picking up where they left off, the Nerazzurri opened the second half pedal to the medal, nearing the second of the game with Djimsiti, linking up on a Kolašinac cross in the 49th but missing the target, before Marten de Roon extended Atalanta's lead with an absolute banger, connecting on a loose ball following a scramble with a powerful volley from outside the box and into the top corner. Pašalić added another one in the 82nd: Mario pounced quickest on Scamacca's angled shot and prodded the ball in to make it 3-0 in Bergamo. It was Ahanor who sealed the win in style in stoppage time: on 91 minutes the wonderkid capped the night with his very first pro goal nodding the ball home from a corner kick.
