2024/25 UEFA Youth League MD1: Atalanta 4-1 Arsenal
Comi, Fiogbe, Steffanoni and Artesani on target for the Nerazzurri
Starting off on the right foot, coach Bosi's Primavera imposed themselves 4-1 over Arsenal in the maiden 2024/25 UEFA Youth League fixture hosted at Caravaggio.
The hosts took the lead on 16 minutes courtesy of Pietro Comi, who nodded in the corner taken by his teammate Bonanomi with a magisterial aerial display that saw the black-nd-blue defender tower above the opponents in the heart of the box to make it 1-0. The Bergamo side doubled on 32 munutes through Fiogbe, who finalised the hosts' counter, brought about by a key retrieval from the offensive third, with a powerful ranged scoarcher from outside the box to vanquish the opposing keeper. Moments later, the Primavera defence neutered Renson's attempt and wrongfooted the gunner player thanks to a crucial deflection. Despite the visitors' attempts on 32 minutes through, coach Bosi's lads made it 3-0 10 minutes later with Federico Steffanoni: after a scramble in the box, the black-and-blue player got hold of the ball and emerged victorious to slot it in. After 1 minute of extra time the first half culminated with Atalanta 3-0 up.
The second half saw the vistors pull one back 4 minutes in with their number 10 Max Dowman. On 53 minutes Atalanta got back on the offensive with Riccio, who saw his attempt denied by the opposing keeper, who only and slightly put off the hosts' 4-goal haul. 4-goal haul that went in effect at the threshold of full time with Artesani, who sealed the hosts' goleada with a left-footed finishafter dribbling his way past the whole London side's defence. After five minutes of extra time, a boisterous second half littered with goal chances from both sides culminated in a 4-1 walkover for the hosts.
