Woodwork and Bijlow deny the Nerazzurri: a point against Genoa
0-0 stalemate at the New Balance Arena
Matchday 35 of the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive season saw Atalanta held to a 0-0 draw by Genoa at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo, with the Nerazzurri denied by the woodwork and a string of saves from Bijlow.
After an early chance apiece in the opening minutes, with Krstović levelling Vitinha’s initial effort, the Nerazzurri took control in search of the breakthrough. The opposition defence, however, held firm and looked to hit on the counter, threatening in the 28th minute when Djimsiti’s intervention proved crucial in blocking Vitinha’s attempt. In the 38th minute, Scalvini combined with De Ketelaere, who went for a left-footed finish, but Bijlow got down well to keep the Belgian out. Then it was Scalvini who put himself on the line to deny Ekhator's turn in the 42nd minute. The final chance before the break fell to Krstović, but Bijlow gathered comfortably.
The second half got underway with a slick move from Scamacca, who carved out space for Ahanor’s run, but his effort from a tight angle was blocked by the goalkeeper. In the 62nd Zalewski let De Ketelaere through, only for the Belgian to fire his left-footer over the crossbar. One minute later Éderson unleashed a powerful effort from outside the box, with Bijlow parrying but unable to hold on. Raspadori pounced on the rebound, but his central effort was comfortably gathered by the visiting goalkeeper. In the 75th Krstović stung Bijlow's gloves, forcing a corner out of the opposing keeper. In the 79th minute, Raspadori nicked the woodwork, smashing his ranged curler onto the crossbar. The last chance of the game fell to the Nerazzurri, with Éderson trying to bend one towards goal, but it sailed just over the bar. As the opposing defence held firm, the match at the New Balance Arena ended 0-0.
