After recharging over the international break, Atalanta returned to Bergamo with one clear mission: to bag their first win of the season. Mission accomplished, and in style. Beyond the three points, the clash against Lecce was packed with milestones and special moments to celebrate, relive and, why not, collect. From the warm-up to the final whistle the game was filled with highlights: the spotlight opening on Mario Pašalić, honored on the sidelines for his 300 appearances in the Nerazzurri shirt. The tribute was personally presented before kickoff by none other than President Antonio Percassi himself.
The spotlight turns to the pitch, where the protagonists were anything but absent. Leading the way was Giorgio Scalvini, who opened the scoring and captained the team for the first time, a milestone made even more special for someone like the "King", born and raised in the Zingonia youth academy. Rewinding to that sliding-door corner kick we spotlight the second star of the show: Nicola Zalewski, who delivered the perfect assist from the flag before slotting home his first goal in Atalanta colors with a silky solo run and a pinpoint finish into the bottom corner.
No offense taken, Charles De Ketelaere, for going off script before: stealing the show and the MVP award,with a brace that secured Atalanta's 2nd and 4th goals of the game, the Belgian wizard thrilled the Bergamo crowd with a brace that earned high praise from coach Jurić. Rounding off the story was Lorenzo Bernasconi, who, after a convincing preseason, celebrated his official Serie A debut.
