Wallpaper recap: Atalanta v Club Brugge
The highlights of the New Balance Arena debut, captured in 4 stunning wallpapers
To quote Terry Gilliam's cult classic, the final quarter-hour at the New Balance Arena was pure "Fear and Loathing in Bergamo": delivering an Oscar-worthy performance, the Nerazzurri, led by the remowned Samardžić–Pašalić duo, flipped the script, delivered the perfect plot twist and landed the decisive blow, sealing an "absolute cinema" comeback...
Act I – Snatch
72nd minute. Musah breaks free and charges down the left flank; Jackers rushes out but can’t clear, with the ball lingering uncertainly. Unwavering, Pašalić swoops like a hawk and draws the foul. The VAR freezes the stadium for a moment, then the verdict… penalty awarded! Samardžić steps up to the spot with ice in his veins and the game’s momentum begins to shift…
Act II – The Usual SuspectAtalanta shift into high gear in search of the comeback, coming close first with Kamaldeen, then again with Musah, in the thick of a goalmouth scramble from a corner. But it’s only a matter of seconds (15, to be exact) before the usual suspect takes center stage: cross from Laki, flick-on by Yunus, and the winning header goes to… (who else but) Pašalić. True to his creed of King of Cups, he flips the scoreline with a goal as heavy as it is historic, the one that crowns him Atalanta’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League.
Act III – Escape to Victory At the final whistle, Bergamo erupts in a deafening roar. Juric’s men bag their first three points of the 2025/26 League Phase and the New Balance Arena signs off on its European debut with a night of pure cinema.
