Under 23s: Alessandria 2-0 Atalanta

The rescheduling of Matchday 8 of the 2023/24 Serie C NOW league saw Atalanta U23s come off worst from the Giuseppe Moccagatta match as the Nerazzurri suffered a 2-0 away defeat in Alessandria; bringing their current run of three consecutive wins, out of which two were clinched away, to a grinding halt.

Coach Modesto's lads were off to a great chance right on 4 minutes when Cissé's ranged drive from outside the box was tipped over for a corner by Liverani. On the 22nd minute, Atalanta turned the ball over to Alessandria after a defensive slip-up on the edge of the box, allowing Siafa to test Vismara with a ranged chance. The Mandrogno team eventually broke the deadlock  38 minutes into the game with Siafa who bested Vismara with a back-heel goal. Atalanta's retaliation was not long in coming, though: on 42 minutes, Mallamo went inches away from the equalizer with a free-kick shot that forced Liverani to a miraculous save.

With his half-time changes, coach Modesto brought on fresh forces in an attempt to step up Atalanta's momentum. On the 56th after gathering a pass from Capone, who found his teammate after dribbling his way past a handful of Alessandria defenders, Di Serio went for a shot which ended up  deflected for a corner. The 59th Minute was marked by a rather dubious accident: despite Rota's shirt tug on Di Serio in the box, referee Centi waved play-on. Atalanta U23s' closest chance for the equalizer came about on 80 minutes: after gathering a pass in the heart of the box, Cissè freed a powerful drive in the follow-up to a mano-a-mano with Liverani, who nonetheless managed to skim the shot just enough to deflect the shot on the bar - and with the ball eventually bouncing back into play. Alessandria doubled their lead and sealed the match on 87 minutes as Gazaoul tapped in Siafa's shot on target following a counter.
