UEFA Youth League: Atalanta 1-3 Chelsea
Gasparello on target
In the final round of the League Phase, Chelsea go through: at the Centro Bortolotti, in the 6th and final fixture of the 2025–26 UEFA Youth League, Chelsea win the match against the Nerazzurri 3–1.
The match between Atalanta and Chelsea opened at a high pace, with both teams immediately showing physicality and dynamism. The first chance of the match came from the English side, with Walsh’s right-side effort easily saved by Sonzogni. The Nerazzurri replied to the Blues’ moves, first with a long-range shot from Mencaraglia and soon after with Artesani from the left, whose attempt was blocked by the opposing defence. Approaching the half-hour mark, in the 28th minute, Chelsea took the lead thanks to Derry’s close-range finish, but in the 34th minute coach Bosi’s team quickly levelled the score with a header from Gasparello on a perfect cross into the box by Aliprandi. At the end of the first half, however, the English side regained the lead again through their number 11, Derry, while the Nerazzurri came close to equalising with Camara—denied on the goal line—and Mencaraglia from a set-piece. At the Centro Bortolotti, the first half ended with Chelsea ahead 2–1.
In the second half, the Nerazzurri immediately pushed forward in an attempt to level the match once more, but in the 56th minute Chelsea extended their lead thanks to Walsh’s precise left-footed strike. In the 75th minute, after a fine run on the right, Mencaraglia found himself one-on-one with Bernai, who managed to turn the shot away for a corner, denying the Nerazzurri’s number 8. In the closing stages, substitute Mungari also created danger in the opponents’ penalty area, but in Zingonia the English side secured a 3–1 victory.
