UEFA Europa League: playing Raków away
The final act of the Group Stage on 14/12
Group D of the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League will finally come full circle on Thursday 14/12 with Matchday 6 of the Group Stage, which will see Atalanta play Raków Częstochowa at the Zagłębiowski Park Sportowy stadium in Sosnowiec in a 21:00 CET kick-off. The MD1 clash, played at the Gewiss Stadium last September 21, culminated in a 2-0 win for the Nerazzurri courtesy of De Ketelaere and Éderson.
The team is coached by Polish trainer Dawid Szwarga, who was recently promoted to the helm of the Club after having spent the previous 2 seasons as assistant coach to Marek Papszun, the former trainer who led the Club on their way to the third division to the Polish top flight. After 17 Estraklasa fixtures, the team has accrued 29 points, sitting 4th in the league (9 points behind league leaders Śląsk Wrocław with one game in hand) and the best-attacking force in the league with 34 goals. In their latest league fixture, Raków Częstochowa suffered a 4-2 away defeat from Jagiellonia, the second force of the Polish championship, after punching their tickets to the quarter-finals of the National cup by defeating Cracovia 1-0 on Wednesday 6/12.
In the UEFA Europa League, the Polish side have waylaid Sturm Graz on 4 points thanks to the 1-0 victory claimed in Austria in the latest round and are still in contention for the third place in the group.
