U23s, Salvatore Bocchetti: "Well-deserved win for the team"

Coach Salvatore Bocchetti shared his thoughts on the win over Siracusa: "We wish to dedicate this success to Giancarlo Finardi, who suffered a family bereavement. As for the game, not only are Siracusa a solid opponent, but they came into the match riding a wave of good form and today they started the game on the right foot, capitalizing on the lapse that lead to the penalty in their favour. On the flipside, we were still carrying the weight of the five goals conceded on Wednesday, hence suffering such slip-up is par for the course. After going behind though, we managed to wipe the slate clean and I think that finding the equaliser right before the break was of the utmost importance for us. I think it was a deserved win, the ladsresponded well, kept their shape, and securing the three points today was crucial".

He then added: "We may have done better at time in parts, as we started a bit timidly, which prevented us from fully expressing our game. Still, the players delivered an outstanding performance against a team on a strong run. That goal right before the break served as a huge shot in the arm, allowing us to approach the second half with an entirely different mindset. I'm pleased with the reaction and the changes: Misitano and the other lads were excellent, a strong team response all around".
