U23s, Francesco Modesto: "These games are key for the team's growth"
The coach's post-match debriefing
In the aftermath of the setback against Padova, coach Francesco Modesto commented on the game as follows: "The way I saw it, the team approached the match with a keen enthusiasm to go toe-to-toe against an opponent built to win the league. Worst of luck for such an untoward episode; still, refereeing mistakes are also a part of football. Given how single-mindedly the lads strove to pull one back throughout the whole second half, the goal was a just and well-deserved recognition. The subs played their part very well too. My only reproach stems from how the team reacted to that penalty, we just had to bounce back better."
"It was no easy task, mind you: in the first half we created plenty of chances, while in the second half we mustered up even more grit and tried to take to the field everything we practised throughout the week. These games are key for the team's growth, a literal stepping stone in the coming of age journey of our players".
