U23s, Francesco Modesto: "I'm glad with the team's development"
The coach's post-game debriefing
Coach Francesco Modesto shared his view on the team's comeback win over Union Clodiense: "In the first half we mismanaged a few counters and one-to-one duels too many as we lacked tempo and they were opting for a rather tight playing style. We ended up being a bit too stifled, even more so considering the importance of today's match. As the second half set in, we demonstrated a great mentality by fending off their opener almost straight away. One of the main traits of my lads is their character and grit, something they might have lacked a bit in Arzignano. Yet today they made up for it with a huge want and hunger to bring the result home".
In his closing remarks, the coach underscored how: "While we've approached the game on the grounds of 5 consecutive home wins, the away side of the balance sheet isn't so optimistic. To be fair there's been a game (and training) pile-up for the players as of late: playing almost every other day is quite taxing for them, yet they've grinned and bore it thus far. I'm glad with the path the team has taken. While last year's roster was more seasoned, this season I have to manage more up-and-comers. Still, they're all developing well."
