Scamacca at the Double in Fourth Straight Home Win
Atalanta See Off Cagliari 2–1 at New Balance Arena
A show-stopping Scamacca hogged the spotlight in Bergamo as Atalanta edged past Cagliari 2-1 in the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive MD15. It's the fourth consecutive home win for the Nerazzurri across all competitions (two in the league, one in the Coppa Italia and one in the Champions League) courtesy of their red-hot striker, who put his shooting boots once again netting his fourth goal in his last three outings between the Serie A and the UCL.
The hosts came out knocking first in the 7th minute with Lookman, who had his shot first denied by Caprile before firing on the side netting in the follow-up. The breakthrough was not long in coming, though, as the Nerazzurri drew first blood in the 11th minute: after a classy link-up between Éderson and Lookman, the Nigerian picked out Zappacosta, with the wingback firing through straight at the goal and Scamacca sending the ball into the bottom corner with a classy backheel finish. The Nerazzurri threatened once again in the 39th with Scamacca, sent through on goal by De Ketelaere, but finishing straight at Caprile. Atalanta's offensive trio kept pinning down the visitors, as Lookman stung Caprile's gloves in the 41st before Obert "filled in for" the Casteddu keeper, turning CDK's effort over the bar shortly after. The visitors retorted just before the half-time whistle, closing the first half on the offensive as Borelli nodded just wide in the second minute of added time.
The visitors drew level in the 75th with Gaetano, beating Carnesecchi in the mano-a-mano with a daft touch to cap off a give-and-go with Esposito. But in the 81st, Scamacca donned the scoring cape once again to put the Nerazzurri upfront, pouncing on a right-handed cross from just subbed-in Samardžić and turning the match around with a two-time finish. Atalanta neared the third of the night with Zalewski on 85 minutes, going twice on target with a quick-fire barrage, but twice denied by Caprile. The game closed on a late scare as Lovumbo's elevnth hour equaliser got ruled out for a Folorunsho offside. Relief then flooded the New Balance Arena as the Nerazzurri held on and saw it out, 2–1 at the final whistle.
