Primavera: Monza 1-3 Atalanta
First win of 2026 signed by Maffessoli, Camara and Artesani
Coach Bosi's Atalanta Primavera opened the new year with an impressive away victory against Monza. At the “Silvio e Luigi Berlusconi” Sports Centre in Monzello, Ramaj and his teammates defeat the Brianzoli 3–1.
The Nerazzurri start strongly and nearly take the lead after just seven minutes, when Baldo’s close-range effort narrowly misses the target following an excellent cross from the left by Aliprandi. Monza respond in the 10th minute with a long-range attempt by Mout that ends wide. Around the 20-minute mark, Bosi’s side broke the deadlock from a corner kick: Mencaraglia’s delivery is flicked on by Camara at the near post, allowing Maffessoli to finish acrobatically at the far post for his second league goal of the season.
Atalanta continued to dominate and doubled their lead in the 29th minute, as Camara fired a precise low strike inside the box past Vailati and inside the post. Monza attempt to get back into the match late in the first half through Villa from distance and Zanni from the left flank, but it is Atalanta who strike again in stoppage time. Baldo delivers a perfect cross from the left and Artesani is on hand to convert from close range, sending the Nerazzurri into the break with a commanding 3–0 advantage.
After the restart, Atalanta remain on the front foot. Artesani forces a save with a right-footed shot deflected out for a corner, while Maffessoli’s header soon after drifts wide. In the 58th minute, Camara leads a rapid counterattack and finds himself one-on-one with the Monza goalkeeper, who does well to close down the angle and push the ball behind for a corner. Monza threatened in the 65th minute when Reita tests Zanchi from the edge of the area and, on the rebound, Ballabio strikes the post from close range.
The hosts pull one back in the 79th minute as Gaye heads home from a left-wing cross by substitute Castelli. In the closing stages, Monza push forward and Colonnese creates danger from a corner kick, but Atalanta manage the final minutes effectively to secure a deserved 3–1 victory.
Next up for Bosi’s side is the Round of 16 of the 2025–26 Primavera Coppa Italia: Atalanta will face Cagliari away on Wednesday 7 January, with kick-off at 13:30 CET at the CRAI Sport Centre in Cagliari.
