Coach Bosi's lads closed the regular season in fourth place
MD34 of the 2023-2024 Primavera 1 TIM "Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti" saw Atalanta U19s lose away to Inter as the hosting side wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 win at the Konami Training Centre in Milan to secure the top of the standings.
After winding up the league with a 4th placement in the final chart, coach Bosi's lads will be back on the pitch for the Final Phase's Round 1, which will see the Nerazzurri face the 5th-placed team on Friday May 24.
After having the first true chance of the game on 14 minutes with Berenbruch, who couldn't find the net with his volley finish, the hosts took the lead in the 18th minute, when Miconi's shot ricocheted into the net after a fortuitous deflection off an Atalanta defender. Coach Bosi's lads retaliated on 35 minutes when Riccio nodded the ball back to Vavassori, whose bicycle kick in the heart of the box flew slightly high over the crossbar. Not a minute had passed and Torriani had to perform a last-ditch save to punch Owusu's deflected finish out for a corner. Atalanta bordered the equaliser on the threshold of halftime with two key chances: first in the 41st, when Cassa's header missed the target by inches, and then with Vavassori who, upon gathering Fiobe's through pass, had his 45-minute effort denied by Raimondi.
Atalanta opened the second half on the offensive forcing Raimondi to block Fiogbe's headed attempt. The hosts doubled in the 55th minute through Owusu, who slotted in Berenbruch's through pass. 60 minutes on the stopwatch and another chance for the hosts with Di Maggio, who turned it goalward with the ball ending up wide to the side. On 70 minutes Simonetto, pictured in the cover, rolled the ball across from the left for Orlando, who finished too high a potential equaliser. Despite the many efforts from both sides, the match culminated in a 2-0 win for Inter.
