Primavera: Fiorentina 2-2 Atalanta
Baldo’s brace earned the Nerazzurri a valuable away draw
Another solid result for Atalanta Primavera, as coach Bosi’s side earned a valuable point away to Fiorentina at the Viola Park on Matchday 9 of the Primavera 1 “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti”.
The Nerazzurri got off to a difficult start, falling behind just four minutes in when Braschi converted a penalty after a handball in the box. Six minutes later, Ramaj and his teammates hit back, with Baldo finding the equaliser through a fine strike into the far corner. Buoyed by the goal, Atalanta pushed forward and came close to taking the lead through Mencaraglia. The advantage eventually arrived from the spot, as Baldo made no mistake to complete his brace and put the visitors 2–1 up. In the closing stages of the first half, the Nerazzurri continued to press for a third, but in the 42nd minute Bertolini’s left-footed effort levelled things up for the hosts. The first half ended all square at 2–2.
After the restart, both sides maintained a high tempo. Fiorentina threatened down the right through Bertolini, but Zanchi was quick to deny him. Atalanta responded with chances from Mencaraglia and Percassi, neither of which found the target. In the final minutes, Fiorentina hit the post and then the crossbar as they pressed for a winner, but Zanchi stood tall with a couple of crucial saves to preserve the draw. The game in Florence finished 2–2, a hard-fought point for coach Bosi’s lads.
