Primavera: Atalanta 1-5 Roma

With the away side imposing themselves 1-5 at the Carillo Pesenti Pigna stadium in  Alzano Lombardo, MD24 of the 2023-2024 Primavera 1 TIM saw Atalanta U19s come off worst from the home game played against Roma.

After Cherubini's 13th-minute bicycle kick into the far top corner put the visitors ahead, the Nerazzurri reacted through Tavanti, whose 16th-minute header was straight at the goalkeeper. Roma doubled their lead through Mannini on 22 minutes. While in the 25th minute Manzoni only managed to sting Marin's gloves with his ferocious drive from the end of the box, Roma found their third of the game 30 minutes into the game with Alessio. Despite the unraveling of the match, the Nerazzurri did not lose heart and racked up chances on their quest to reduce the deficit: first came Vavassori who, despite going mano-a-mano against the Giallorosso keeper after retrieving the ball on the offensive third 34 minutes into the match, was denied by Marin's on-rushing save; then it was Manzoni, whose finish on 41 minutes from an inviting position ended up off target. At the third attempt, Atalanta finally found the way to the goal with Colombo, who finished Vavassori's assist with a pinpoint left-footed curler. The visitors restored the gap a few minutes after through Pisilli, who scored Roma's 4th of the game in the second minute of stoppage time.

Aside from Roma's undeniable dominance, it is still worth noting the two incidents in the first half that left the Nerazzurri frustrated: a handball by Pisilli before the visitors' third goal and another handball in the Giallorossi box that led to penalty appeals from Manzoni, which were rejected.

Finding their scoring ways once again in the second half, Roma killed off the contest through Alessio, who bagged his brace on 76 minutes and made it 5-1.
