“One shot, one GOTM": Lookman is October’s goal king!

Chosen by Nerazzurri fans through our social media

“First strike, first glory” for Ademola Lookman! With the goal against Milan, the Nigerian not only opens his seasonal tally but also kicks off the race for Atalanta’s monthly awards: it’s his equaliser against the Rossoneri that takes home the October Goal of the Month, winning by acclamation during the “24 Hours of Goals” on Friday and Saturday. From the pitch to the socials, the verdict from the Nerazzurri faithful is unanimous and leaves no room for appeal: nothing doing for Marco Brescianini’s thunderbolt in second place, or Dominic Vavassori’s bending strike in third, just ahead of debutant Francesco Gasparello’s solo effort.

Before we dive into the highlights, here’s a look at how the votes shaped up (exit polls are available below):

Winner: Ademola Lookman, Atalanta 1-1 Milan, 2025/26 Serie A Enilive MD9 (53%);

Runner-up: Marco Brescianini, Cremonese 1-1 Atalanta, 2025/26 Serie A Enilive MD8 (20%)

4th Place Francesco Gasparello, Atalanta Primavera 2-0 Slavia Praga, 2025/26 UEFA Youth League MD3 (8%)

Wooden spoon for a true “double debutant.” In his first-ever participation in the contest dedicated to Atalanta’s goal scorers, Francesco Gasparello won over fans on social media thanks to his strike in the Youth League against Slavia Prague. A genuine dream debut for the 2009-born forward, who marked his first appearance in the Primavera in the best possible way: with a goal that sealed the U20 Nerazzurri’s first win of the 2025/26 Youth League season.

A laps in a Czech clearance along the sideline, and Gasparello sniffs out the ball in his own half before charging towards the opposition goal. With two inside-foot turns, he leaves the defender flat-footed, then follows it up with a neat body feint and a first-time left-footed strike across the keeper. The ball nestles into the net behind Paar: 2-0, and three points iced. It doesn’t get a better calling card than that.

Third time was the charm for Atalanta Primavera as coach Bosi's Nerazzurri saw Czech side Slavia Praha 2-0 off at the Centro Bortolotti in the 2025/26 UEFA Youth League League Phase MD3.

3rd Place Dominic Vavassori, Atalanta U23s 6-2 AZ Picerno, 2025/26 Serie C Sky Wifi MD11 (19%)

Bronze -but missing the motherload by a fistful of votes- goes to U23s top scorer Dominic Vavassori, thanks to a strike – the one scored against AZ Picerno – that perfectly encapsulates the qualities of Mister Bocchetti’s forward (if you will, a Vavassori “from A to Z”… forgive the pun!). Before diving into the usual play-by-play of the goal, a little curiosity about the 2005-born attacker: the strike that earned him this month’s bronze is actually just the tip of the iceberg of one of his best offensive runs since donning the U23 jersey. So far, the only performance that even comes close is his “game, set & match” against Casarano in Caravaggio, when he recorded a hat-trick and assisted Cortinovis’s brace.

54’ on the clock. After a first half full of fireworks, in which Atalanta’s two-goal lead had been wiped out by a lightning-fast comeback from the Lucanian side, it’s Vavassori who steers the Nerazzurri back in front and turns into the hero of the day with the new counter-superiority. Sprinting down the left, he cuts inside towards the center and fires a crisp right-footed curling shot from the edge of the box: a perfect trajectory that nestles into the bottom corner. It’s the strike that breaks Picerno’s resistance once and for all, leaving them destined to wave the white flag shortly after under the relentless siege of Caravaggio.

Runner-up: Marco Brescianini, Cremonese 1-1 Atalanta, 2025/26 Serie A Enilive MD8 (20%)

Silver medal and well-deserved recognition go to Marco Brescianini for his late-October heroics, with the Nerazzurri’s number 44 claiming the second step of the podium thanks to his equalizer at the Zini Stadium against Cremonese. A strike as beautiful as it was crucial for a player like Marco, who has consistently been ready when called upon, combining stamina and consistency with a touch of class and finesse.

Despite the home side taking an early lead, Atalanta’s onslaught quickly becomes relentless. After Silvestri’s reflex save denies Scamacca from close range, the ball ricochets toward the right flank, where Bellanova delivers a cross for Scamacca, only for him to be beaten in a shoulder-to-shoulder duel by Baschirotto. On the rebound, a charging Brescianini pounces, cushions the ball on his chest with cold-blooded composure, and fires a snap volley like a sniper into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

Winner: Ademola Lookman, Atalanta 1-1 Milan, 2025/26 Serie A Enilive MD9 (53%);

Crowned what, statistically speaking, can only be described as one of his “trademark specials”: against one of his favourite victims — already hit four times — Mola once again sprinkled his magic right where he thrives most, with the home crowd roaring behind him. Proof of how the atmosphere at home supercharges the Nigerian, turning him into Milan’s true bogeyman. And the fans didn’t hesitate for a second: the No. 11 swept up the Goal of the Month award with 53% of the votes, sealing the unanimous appreciation for his brilliance.

CDK receives the ball on the edge of the box and, with a perfectly measured touch, tears open the Rossoneri backline, dragging the midfield out of position and creating the gap for Pašalić. Mario reads the movement and threads the pass to Lookman who, in the right place at the right time, shrugs off Saelemaekers and Tomori with a crisp swivel, flowing straight into the strike without breaking rhythm: a first-time left-footer, as explosive as it is deadly. It screams under the crossbar, slipping through the only window of daylight between Maignan and the post with surgical accuracy, leaving the Milan keeper rooted to the spot — a powerless onlooker to a moment of pure class.

Lookman’s first goal of the season — and hardly an ordinary one. Ladies and gentlemen, your October POTM!
