Appointed new head coach of Atalanta Under-23s

Atalanta BC announce the official appointment of Salvatore Bocchetti as the new head coach of the Under-23s squad.

Born in Naples on November 30 1986, Bocchetti enjoyed a distinguished playing career as a central defender across Italy and Russia. After early spells with Lanciano, Ascoli and Frosinone, he made his breakthrough at Genoa, which earned him a call-up to the Italian national team under Marcello Lippi. Bocchetti then moved to Rubin Kazan, where he won the Premier Liga and the Russian Supercup, before completing a move to Spartak Moscow, with whom he secured another league title and another SuperCup. He then hung up his cleats in 2021 after stints with Milan, Hellas Verona and Pescara.

Transitioning into coaching, Bocchetti began his technical journey at Hellas Verona’s youth academy, managing the Under-18s before taking charge of the Primavera team. He also served as assistant coach and interim head coach of the first team. In December 2024, he was appointed head coach of Monza.

Atalanta warmly welcome Salvatore Bocchetti to the Nerazzurri family, wishing him every success in his new role.
