Golazo & backflip: Kamaldeen wins the August-September GOTM!
Chosen by Nerazzurri fans through our social media
We kick off the Goal of the Month Hall of Fame with Kamaldeen Sulemana, who, as they say in English, “flipped the script,” putting his signature on the very first page of the GOTM season with yet another spectacular flip.
The winner of the “extended cut” edition for August-September was the strike scored in Turin against Juventus: a ballistic masterpiece crowned by his iconic acrobatic celebration. A clear and unanimous victory for “Deenho,” who, after dominating Group A without rivals, also exacted his law in the final, capturing over two-thirds of the votes in an all-in showdown with teammate Nicola Zalewski.
Rounding out the podium are Gianluca Scamacca and Simone Panada, respectively runners-up in Groups A and B, standout performers with their goals against Pisa and Giana Erminio.
Before we dive into the highlights, here’s a look at how the votes shaped up in the group stage and who came out on top in the final (exit polls are available below)

GROUP A, Runner-up: Gianluca Scamacca, Atalanta 1-1 Pisa - 2025/26 Serie A Enilive, MD1 (16%)
We kick off the 2025/26 Goal of the Season race with a familiar face, a true aficionado of the contest dedicated to the Nerazzurri’s finest finishers: Gianluca Scamacca. And what better way to "open the scoring" in our chart than with the first Atalanta goal of the season? When it comes to Atalanta’s No. 9, class and goals go hand in hand (noblesse oblige, as they say). This month’s wooden spoon goes to a real technical gem: an Atalanta break, Pašalić threads the perfect ball through, and there’s Scamacca, surrounded by four yellow shirts. Cool as ever, he dances on the ball, uses a slick sole drag to create space, and then fires a pinpoint low finish past Semper, slotting it into the far corner. A billiard shot to make it 1-1… Scamacca is back, and the Bergamo crowd erupts!
GROUP B, Runner-up: Simone Panada, Giana Erminio 1-4 Atalanta U23 – 2025/26 Coppa Italia Serie C, Round 1 (29%)
Shifting over to Group B, we continue our rundown with the second player who narrowly missed out on the final, U23s' captain Simone Panada! Taking third place in this round of voting, Atalanta’s No. 5 claims the bottom step of the podium thanks to his brilliant go-ahead goal in Gorgonzola during the 1st Round of the 2025/26 Coppa Italia Serie C. It all starts with a backpass from Cissé, and then it’s all Panada: a sudden change of pace as he bursts forward and, with a body feint, he "skins" two Giana Erminio defenders in his wake. What follows is a right-footed whip into the far bottom corner, sealing a classy 2-1 lead for coach Bocchetti’s side...
FINAL RESULTS Runner-up: Nicola Zalewski, Atalanta 4-1 Lecce - 2025/26 Serie A Enilive, MD3 (24%),
Silver goes to Nicola Zalewski, who wasted no time making his mark with his first goal in an Atalanta shirt — and what a way to open his account.
It’s the 69th minute of Atalanta v Lecce, Scalvini threads a line-breaking pass through the middle to Krstović, who shields the ball with his back to goal. Under pressure from Siebert, the forward holds firm and lays it off at just the right moment. Enter Zalewski: the Polish international bursts into space like a quarterback breaking the line and driving forward straight through the heart of Lecce’s final third. A sharp cut and with a flowing serpentine run, he weaves between Kouassi and Gaspar, carving a path to goal. On the edge of the box, he opens up his body and curls a low shot toward the far post.... Falcone at full stretch can only watch as the ball kisses the net. That goal sealed Atalanta’s third of the night and crowned a stellar all-round performance from Zalewski: an assist, a near miss off the crossbar, and a stunning solo goal, all in front of the home fans.
FINAL RESULTS Winner: Kamaldeen Sulemana, Juventus 1-1 Atalanta - 2025/26 Serie A Enilive, MD5 (76%)
Dulcis in fundo… the winner! We close things out with yet another first, this time, for Kamaldeen Sulemana, crowned Goal of the Month for August–September with XX% of the vote!
Of course, in Kamaldeen’s case, “first” doesn’t refer to his name on the scoresheet though, funnily enough, that too happened in Turin, but rather to the coup de théâtre that followed. It’s the dying moments of the first half at the Allianz Stadium. Deadlock on the pitch… until Atalanta’s No. 7 decides to flip the script. Ahanor presses high, forcing Adžić into a turnover deep in his own half. The ball falls to Kamaldeen, and from there, it’s a one-man show: a devastating burst of pace, a sharp cut inside, and a feint that sends Gatti and Khéphren Thuram completely the wrong way. He glides into the box, opens up his body onto his left foot and unleashes a clinical low strike across goal, tucking it just inside the far post..
It’s the goal that opens the 2025/26 GOTM roll of honour, and the perfect exclamation mark on a red-hot spell for the Ghanaian, who’s made Turin his playground: two goals in six days, first against Torino, then against Juventus. And the finish? Classic Kamaldeen: a golazo followed by the season’s first backflip.
