FC Köln seal victory in German friendly
On Sunday another friendly in Zingonia v NK Opatija
At the RheinEnergieStadion, Köln secured the win in Atalanta’s second international preseason friendly in Germany following last Saturday's outing in Leipzig.
Early on, the woodwork twice denied the home side a goal, first from Schmied's header (2') and then from Bellanova's defensive attempt, tipped onto the crossbar by Carnesecchi at the eleventh hour on 8 minutes. The hosts struck on 26 minutes with Thielmann's diagonal drive and then doubled on 32 minutes with Kaminski's right-footed curler. Right before the break, Carnesecchi kept out Hansen's angled effort.
In the second half, Köln struck twice more, first with Thielmann in the 58th minute, followed by a Waldschmidt penalty in the 66th. As the final whistle filled the air in Cologne, the home side imposed themselves 4-0.
Tomorrow, Sunday August 10, Atalanta will face Croatian side NK Opatija in another friendly match. The game, to be held behind closed doors, will kick off at 10:30 CEST and will be streamed live on Atalanta BC’s YouTube channel in partnership with Bergamo TV.
