Despite second-half rally, Napoli claim win
Scamacca's volley brought Atalanta on the scoresheet in 3-1 loss
In a second half highlighted by Scamacca's volley, Atalanta fought back, creating several chances and laying siege on the hosts. Despite the Nerazzurri's fightback, the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive MD12 saw Napoli run out 3-1 winners, claiming all three points at the Maradona Stadium.
The hosts took the lead with Neres, who broke the deadlock on 17 minutes, finding the far corner past Carnesecchi with a left-footed shot after a solo move. Atalanta threatened from outside the box, but De Ketelaere (32’) and Pašalić (36’) were off target. It was Neres who then added a second in the 38th with a left-foot finish. Just before halftime, Lang headed home from close range to make it 3-0 for Napoli.
Early in the second half, Carnesecchi made two impressive saves to keep out McTominay. At the 52nd minute, De Ketelaere came close with a neat link-up with Lookman, but saw his shot graze the post on Milinkovic-Savic’s left. Moments later, the visitors pulled a goal back: Bellanova delivered a fine cross, and Scamacca met it with a brilliant volley to make it 3-1. At 65 minutes, Atalanta came close as De Ketelaere skimmed the top corner. One odd minute later Scamacca tested Milinkovic-Savic with a well-placed effort from the edge of the box, but the keeper managed to tip it over for a corner. The Atalanta siege forged ahead with Lookman, twice breaking into the box and unsettling the Napoli defence, but failing to get a shot off. Late pressure from Atalanta saw Scamacca’s header skim just past the post in the 87th minute, followed by a reflex save from Carnesecchi to keep out Elmas’ corner. Napoli ultimately claimed a 3-1 win at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
