Bayern Munich win the first leg of the UCL Round of 16
The German outfit triumph in Bergamo, with Pašalić on target for the Nerazzurri
Bayern Munich underlined their status as a European powerhouse with a 6-1 victory in the first leg of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at the Stadio di Bergamo.
The visitors started strongly, testing Carnesecchi from the outset and forcing the Atalanta goalkeeper into a number of saves before breaking the deadlock in the 12th minute through Stanišić following a corner. Bayern doubled their lead on 22 minutes with Olise’s left-footed angled drive, and Gnabry made it three just three minutes later. The Nerazzurri threatened in the 27th minute when Krstović’s effort was blocked by Upamecano. Bayern continued to push before the break, with Jackson and Upamecano both trying their luck, while Gnabry came closest in the 44th minute when his strike from the edge of the box rattled the crossbar.
The German side extended their lead early in the second half: Olise grabbed his brace in the 46th minute with a left-foot curler into the top corner, Musiala added another from close range three minutes later, and Jackson made it six on 52 minutes with an angled drive into the far bottom corner. Among the other notable moments were a crucial block from Djimsiti, a shot from Upamecano that struck the post and a good opportunity for Samardžić, who stretched to reach the ball but was beaten to it by Urbig rushing out to collect. The Nerazzurri fans also played their part, continuing to cheer and encourage the team until the final whistle. In the 93rd minute, Pašalić slid in to meet a deflected cross from Bellanova, scoring the final goal of the match and bringing the first leg of the round of 16 to a close with a final score of 1–6.
