Fourth straight Serie C win for the Nerazzurri
Another big win for the Atalanta U23s lads as the Nerazzurri seized the Monterisi stadium in Cerignola with a 4-2 triumph. Thanks to goals from Vavassori (2), Misitano, and Simonetto, Bocchetti's lads have nothced up their 4th consecutive league victory.
Atalanta's first chance came in the 10th minute: Navarro cut in from the left and fired with his right, but his shot was deflected by the defence. Despite pouncing on the rebound with a left-footed volley, the Spaniard saw his attempt denied by the opposing keeper. Cerignola broke the deadlock in the 13th with Gamable, tucking the ball in point-blank after latching on a through ball. Just three minutes later, the hosts went down to ten men when Cuppone was sent off for a reckless challenge on Riccio's ankle. The Nerazzurri hit back in the 26th with Vavassori, smashing home his sixth seaonal goal with a feline pounce after a scramble in the box.
The second half opened with the Nerazzurri taking the lead: in the 47th minute, Misitano headed in Ghislandi’s cross to make it 2-1 in style. The home side tried to respond, but Vismara was alert first to Gambale’s attempt in the 53rd minute and then to Russo’s shot in the 58th. In the 62nd minute, Vavassori completed his brace, calmly finishing in the box after a pass from Misitano. The Nerazzurri’s fourth was signed by Simonetto, who had just come on and tucked a precise right-footed shot into the corner in the 70th minute. Cerignola pulled one back through Emmausso in the 73rd, but it wasn’t enough: the Nerazzurri closed out the match 4-2.
