Bologna win at the Gewiss Stadium
Lookman opened the scoring, then the visitors' comeback
On Matchday 27 of the 2023-2024 Serie A TIM, the visitors came from behind to win 1-2 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo after Lookman had given Atalanta the lead in the 28th minute.
The Nerazzurri started on the front foot and threatened early on when De Ketelaere met Ruggeri's cross from the left and shot over in the second minute. On 12 minutes it was Ruggeri who fired wide with his left foot. The deadlock was broken in the 28th minute when Zappacosta tested Skorupsi with an angled shot which rebounded into the path of Lookman, who made no mistake from close range. After a couple of efforts from Orsolini and another from Lookman went wide, the Nerazzurri went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
The second half was also played at a high tempo. Carnesecchi made a superb reaction save to deny Calafiori in the 54th minute, but the visitors equalised through Zirkzee's 57th-minute penalty and Ferguson's 61st-minute strike from the edge of the area gave them the lead. Atalanta's response was to see Miranchuk's left-footed curler skim the post on 77 minutes. Carnesecchi made a fine save from Ferguson's angled shot in the 86th minute and then denied Odgaard in stoppage time. The Nerazzurri pushed hard for an equaliser in the dying minutes, but the Bologna defence held firm to hold on for a 2-1 victory.
Tomorrow, Monday 4 March, the team will kick off preparations for the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 against Sporting CP with an afternoon training session taking place at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia.
