2025/26 UCL opposition focus: Union Saint-Gilloise
Countdown to Wednesday's League Phase Finale in Belgium
Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise will be Atalanta's opponents for the 8th and final match of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League League Phase, scheduled for Wednesday 28 January at the RSC Anderlecht Stadium in Brussels, with kick-off at 21:00 CET. This will be the first official European meeting between the two clubs.
Founded in 1897 in Saint-Gilles, Brussels, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise is one of Belgium’s most historic clubs. Reigning Jupiler Pro League champions, Les Unionistes boast 12 Belgian league titles, 3 Belgian Cups and 1 Belgian Super Cup.
Since October, the team has been led by Belgian coach David Hubert. League-wise, Union SG come into the match on the back of a 0-0 away draw at OH Leuven, and they sit top of the Jupiler Pro League with 46 points after 22 rounds.
On the European front, Union SG have won twice on the road, beating PSV 3-1 and Galatasaray 1-0, but suffered five defeats against Newcastle (0-4), Inter (0-4), Atlético Madrid (3-1), Marseille (2-3), and Bayern Munich (0-2).
