2025/26 UCL opposition focus: Chelsea
Tuesday Night Lights in Bergamo for the League Phase MD6
Set to face Atalanta in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Matchday 6, Chelsea will land in Bergamo for a 21:00 CET blockbuster kick-off on Tuesday, December 9, at the New Balance Arena. For both sides, it’s a historic first-ever European meeting.
Founded in 1905 in the London borough of Hammersmith, Chelsea Football Club are one of the true heavyweights of English football. A Premier League powerhouse, the Blues bring with them the second-most decorated trophy haul in the country with: internationally, 2 Champions Leagues, a FIFA Club World Cup, an Intercontinental Cup, 2 Europa Leagues, 2 Cup Winners’ Cups, a Conference League, and 2 UEFA Super Cups; domestically, 6 league titles, 8 FA Cups, and 5 League Cups.
Since the 2024/25 campaign, the Londoners have been led by Italian manager Enzo Maresca.
In their latest league outing, the Blues shared spoils with Bournemouth following the goalless draw at Dean Court. After 15 matchdays, Chelsea currently sit fourth in the table on 25 points. In this season’s UEFA Champions League, Maresca’s men have picked up three wins against Benfica (1-0), Ajax (5-1), and Barcelona (3-0); a draw away to Qarabag (2–2), and one defeat on the road against Bayern Munich (3-1).
