Women’s U-17s: first training session and gathering
Michele Frigerio has been confirmed at the helm
The new season is officially underway also for our Female sides, with the gathering and the first training session of the Under-17s held at the “Valfregia” Sporting Venue in Trezzo sull’Adda as ground zero.
Michele Frigerio, now entering his sixth season at Atalanta, has been confirmed at the helm of the Nerazzurre lasses. “The new workgroup will comprise players born in 2007 and 2008, with the latter being promoted from the Under-15s after the solid performances showcased in the past season, following a fifty-fifty split. As such our workgroup will eventually lean towards the younger side. The initial difficulty is to make the two halves of the team gel together: a part of them is already used to the mechanics of 11-a-side football on the grounds of the experience garnered in the past season, while the other approach regular tactics for the first time. As such, starting off on the right foot would get us ahead of the learning curve".
Despite ditching entirely any preseason format, we will nonetheless play a handful of demanding friendlies before attending the "Le Rose del Moscato" tournament in Scanzorosciate come September 24 where we will take on Hellas Verona and Parma in the group stage. Given the specific weight of our upcoming commitments, we will have to work hard in order not to leave anything lacking and to be ready when push comes to shove”.
In his closing remarks, coach Frigerio cared to stress how: “Our goals will not stray from the usual guidelines: the proper nurturing of our players will once again be our utmost priority. Henceforth, the attention to developing an organic playing style and to instilling the right values will lay as the cornerstone of our working ethos, with outcomes and silverware being as side quests".
