Welcome, Thomas Kristensen!
2002-born defender joins from Udinese on loan with option and conditional obligation to buy
Atalanta BC are pleased to announce the signing of Thomas Kristensen from Udinese Calcio on loan with an option to buy, which becomes an obligation should certain conditions be met.
Born in Aarhus on 17 January 2002, the Danish defender came through the youth ranks of his hometown club before making his first-team debut for AGF in the Danish Superliga at just 19 years of age. He gradually established himself as a regular starter and, after making 46 appearances and scoring two goals for the Danish side, completed a move to Italy at the age of 21, joining Udinese.
Kristensen made an immediate impact at Udinese, settling in quickly and earning a place in the starting XI for his Serie A debut against Fiorentina on 24 September 2023, just three appearances into his spell with the club. His consistency is reflected in his numbers: 26 league appearances in his first season, 24 in his second - when he also scored his first Serie A goal away to Cagliari in the fourth-last match of the campaign- and 28 in the 2025/26 season.
In his final campaign with Udinese, he also made his mark in the opposition box, scoring three goals, including one in Bergamo, courtesy of his trademark aerial ability. He leaves the Friulian club after three seasons, having made 81 appearances in all competitions and scored four goals.
Kristensen has also represented Denmark at youth level from Under-18 to Under-21, earning 18 caps and playing a leading role in his country's run to the quarter-finals of the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
The Percassi family, the Pagliuca family and everyone at Atalanta BC warmly welcome Thomas and wish him every success, both personally and with the team, in Nerazzurro.
