U23s, Sunday clash with Catania

The final fixture of 2025 and the closing match of the season's first half awaits Atalanta U23s, who will be in action on Sunday, December 21, at 14:30 CET at the Angelo Massimino stadium, with Catania as hosting side.

It will not be the first time the two sides have crossed paths: back in the 2023/24 campaign, Atalanta U23s' maiden season, the Nerazzurri and the Rosazzurri faced off in the National Play-off First Round. Catania edged the first leg 1-0 in Caravaggio, before Atalanta U23 struck back with a 1-0 win in the return match at the Massimino. Qualification ultimately went the way of the Sicilians, who progressed as the seeded side.

Salvatore Bocchetti’s men come into the fixture following a 2-1 home defeat to Sorrento and currently sit 12th in the table with 22 points.

Catania, on the other hand, picked up a point last time out with a 1-1 away draw against Potenza. The Elephants lead the standings joint-top with Benevento, both sides on 38 points.

THE REFEREE

The match will be officiated by Giuseppe Maria Manzo from the Torre Annunziata section, with assistants Stefania Genoveffa Signorelli (Paola) and Davide Gigliotti (Lamezia Terme). Alfredo Iannello (Messina) has been appointed as fourth official, while Giuseppe Minutoli (Messina) will serve as the Football Video Support (FVS) operator.
