U23s: hosting Catania on Tuesday for the Playoffs’ National Stage

Making strides in the Lega Pro Playoffs, Atalanta U23s have now landed in the National Phase upon drawing 1-1 to Legnago Salus: the first step of the Serie C NOW's Round of 16 will see the Nerazzurri welcome the Etnei to Caravaggio for a 20:30 CEST kick-off on Tuesday, May 14.
In for an historic first, the Caravaggio game will also mark the maiden knockout game for the Sicily side, having skipped the preliminary stage on the grounds of their win in the Coppa Italia Serie C.

HOW BOTH TEAMS FARED IN THE PLAYOFFS' GROUP STAGE
Atalanta U23s made it past the Group Phase by defeating Trento 3-1 (with goals from Cissé, Bonfanti and Jimenez) and by drawing 1-1 with Legnago (as Cissé delivered once again to punch the Nerazzurri's ticket due to their best final placement in the regular season’s standings) in the two games played at the Città di Caravaggio stadium.
Drafted in Group C, newly promoted Catania closed their 2023/24 Serie C NOW regular season in 13th with 45 points in 38 games on the grounds of 12 wins and 9 draws and with a 1-0 home victory over Benevento on MD38. Winners of the 2023/24 Coppa Italia Serie C, the Rosa Azzurri lifted the trophy in front of their home crowd after turning the first leg around and defaeating Padova at the Angelo Massimino stadium. As mentioned above, the final victory in the tournament allowed The Elephants to skip the Group Stage phase and access the National Stage's draw as seeded team.
