U23s, Francesco Modesto: "This draw gives us confidence"

As the Serie C NOW MD30 home face-off with Vicenza culminated in a 2-2 draw, coach Francesco cared to delve deeper into the team's performance in the post-match interview: "It was an oustanding display from the lads. While we knew we were up against a tough opponent, a team on the hunt for promotion, I saw the squad hit the pitch with a unquenchable hunger to play, willing to give their 110%, both technically and competitively, and unfazed by any stage fright whatsoever. Conceding two goals from set pieces, especially when we had the chance to go 3-1 up in the second half is a bitter pill to swallow. As for the lead-in to their second goal, we should have kept our wits about us and managed the situation better: we were on the brink of bagging all three points but that's how the cookie crumbled I guess. Still. I'm most pleased with the lads' efforts".

Modesto then continued by stressing how: "On a technical level,Atalanta showed what they're capable of, playing with heart and courage. Given that our end-all-be-all goal is to help them develop, this draw boosts our morale: every game is a lesson and today we learned how much of a game-changer set pieces can be. While they were shrewd in making the most out of them, we kept them on the back foot."
