U23s, Francesco Modesto: "There's room for us to step it up"
The black-and-blue coach's de-briefing after the Coppa Italia Serie C game
Francesco Modesto commented the Coppa Italia di Serie C setback suffered against Vicenza: "We faced a big Club, an outfit endowed with all the resources to attempt the challenge to the title. Although we resorted to deploy many Primavera players, I can certainly say that we've done well. Yet, there's still room for improvement, and we'll get there by keep on working just like we've been doing thus far".
"Just like Palestra last year, Idele was sent off today on his very own Under-23s debut - coach Modesto cared to indulge on a little oddity - Despite the mishap, I would sooner have these hitches to happen at the earliest opportunity: in the end, they tell you where you can improve and they open a window for comeback-Both teams had their chances; in the end it was a hotly-contested and riveting game."
In his closing remarks the Atalanta coach underscored how: "Many lads had the opportunity to develop wither through loan spells, their stint at Atalanta Primavera or by joint session with the First Team. Atalanta's Youth System is a benchmark in it own rights, littered with youngsters known for their boundless potential. On the flipside, they just have to find their feet in the Serie C league by cushioning the leap from the Primavera championship. They ought to tough it up with the right competitive mailce: our goal is to reiterate everything we did last season, when we closed our rookie campaign on a high."
