U23s, Francesco Modesto: 'An important win'

Francesco Modesto shared his thoughts after the victory over Lecco: "Although today we took on a more seasoned opponent, our lads managed the game very well, something I didn't have the slightest doubt about if you ask me. Although an offside marred their 3-2 goal, the team didn't budge an inch. Despite our lead-in to this match being nothing short of a pile-up of 5 consecutive games, which involved a great physical and mental effort, the team didn't scrimp, neither in quantity nor quality. Last season they were in the Serie B, they are a quality team. This is an important victory, kudos to the lads for their mentality."

In his closing remarks, the coach said: "This is a very young team, we are doing something great with these guys. At the end of the first half, we are even better than last season. Being this young, our heads are lighter whenever we play after claiming a win. On the other hand, when we lose, sometimes we are a bit more blocked in the following games and that is something we will work on. We learn a lot from defeats and that is our goal."
